Dear Shuksan Parents and Students:
Welcome to the new Shuksan; a new building, a new focus and a new outlook. Our mission is to engage students in learning that develops the skills and determination to strengthen themselves, their community and the world. In order to realize this mission we will need your help.
We ask students to come to school ready to learn and to become involved in a positive way in school. We welcome advice, suggestions and help from parents. We cannot function without you. Together, we will have a great year!
The new Shuksan will be ready for students on the first day of school, September 8, 2009, 8:30 a.m. We also have some “back to school” activities planned:
Sept. 2nd 6:00-7:30pm 7th & 8th grade student/parent orientation
and tours
Sept. 3rd 6:00-7:30pm 6th grade student/parent orientation and tours
Sept. 4th 1:00-3:00pm 6th grade students only, “fun” orientation
Oct. 1st 5-6:15pm Grand Opening Ceremony
Oct. 1st 6:30-8:00pm Back to School Night
Sixth grade students will receive their class schedules during their orientation on September 4th. Seventh and eighth graders will receive their schedules on the first day of school. Please be aware that changes may occur to student schedules after the first day of school to facilitate a more balanced learning environment.
Please have patience during our transition to the new building. Everything from phone extensions to room numbers will be published for your convenience after the start of the school year. Helpful documents and information are available on this website.
Shuksan will be open to the public on August 24, 2009 from 9am-12noon and 1pm to 3:30pm, although touring the building may be limited to certain areas.
Thank you,
