Call to Order - 7:01 pm by Pat Strickling

Reading of the Minutes - accepted by Lori

Treasurer’s report - Q on magazine fund raiser, answered by Kelly

Old Business - Parent Advisory Council - Valarie Lyons-Parker reporting
1 - Best Practices meeting at BHS 5/7 at 6:30 - 9 pm covering 2 or 3 successes by school and 2 or 3 needs.
2 - International Baccalaureate Program at Wade King
3 - Curriculum changes so each teacher at a given grade knows what SHOULD have been taught to students at any other grade

New Business

AVID request - Heidi Sherman met to discuss 2 proposals for funding. One for a mix it up day where students make new friends and meet new people and the other for a scholarship dance. The dance hopes to fund a $500 scholarship to a former Shuksan student who is now a senior. Kelly motioned to approve and Valarie and Shary seconded.

Extended Learning??? - Andy announced changes for next year including extended learning for one team by grade while the other has regular classes with longer period times.

Golden Acorn - Lori passed out a form for nominations. Please email her if you have any suggestions!

Board Nominating Committee - Shary motioned to accept Pat, Lori, Kelly and Dana Lindquist at the committee. Anneke seconded

Staff Appreciation - Heather Whalen to coordinate a latin theme. Suggested she check with Luis’, the Diaz family and Cinco de Mayo in the neighborhood. Families to provide desserts, including folks on SA committee and all present at meeting. Please let us know if you can also provide dessert. Coffee compliments of Heidi Sherman’s husband.

8th Grade Graduation 6/12 - servers arranged by Pat. Pat to get names to Sharece for decorating (Jo Kaas and Mrs. Lincoln)

Budget Committee - email present and future board to arrange a meeting. Pat to do.

Skuksan Showcase - 5/19 Pat to contact CJ and Ashley to coordinate snacks.

BBQ - 5/29, Challenge Run - Melanie has help offered from Danielle Starkovich and Jennifer Hawes to monitor the wood trails.

Andy’s comments - Middle Years Program perhaps at Shuksan, WASL in full gear, new building bids decision 4/25
